 iThe writing is on the wall! It's also on the floor, in the pages of texts that influence our thoughts, on the tongues of political and religious leaders, and everyone in between! Words can be powerful in their spoken and written forms, and can be used to state simple facts, express emotion, end a war or start a revolution. In the exhibition, ¡Se Ha Dicho! (It has been said) two connotations of the saying take shape-- the first being an emphatic declaration clarifying that no repetition is needed, akin to "I said what I said."  The second meaning could be used at the beginning of a tale passed down from generation to generation, meaning "Once upon a time."

¡Se Ha Dicho! explores the power of words in art and everyday lives of Hispanic and Latinx communities, whether emulating the rallying speech of a community organizer, the soothing rhythm of a lullaby shared from mother to daughter, or an astute connection scribbled in the margins of a book. The work presented here is a celebration of the power of a community with deep and diverse stories to tell, as we live with the daily-learned lesson of just how much words matter.

i¡La escritura está en la pared! También está en el suelo, en las páginas de los textos que influyen nuestros pensamientos, en las lenguas de los líderes políticos y religiosos, ¡y en todos los demás! Las palabras pueden ser poderosas en sus formas habladas y escritas, y pueden usarse para enunciar hechos simples, expresar emociones, terminar una guerra o comenzar una revolución. En la exhibición, ¡Se Ha Dicho! toman forma dos connotaciones de la frase. La primera es una declaración enfática que aclara que no se necesita repetición, similar a "Dije lo que dije". El segundo significado podría usarse al comienzo de un cuento transmitido de generación en generación, que significa "Érase una vez".

¡Se Ha Dicho! explora el poder de las palabras en el arte y la vida cotidiana de las comunidades hispanas y latinx, ya sea emulando el discurso  de un organizador comunitario, el ritmo relajante de una canción de cuna compartida de madre a hija o una conexión astuta garabateada en los márgenes de un libro. El trabajo que se presenta aquí es una celebración del poder de una comunidad con historias profundas y diversas que contar, mientras vivimos con la lección que aprendemos a diario de cuánto importan las palabras.
