Ráfaga performance at The Blaffer Museum

In Ráfaga, artist Michael Anthony García is exploring the spaces of discomfort and groundlessness that he has lived within the experience of being too Latinx for some people but not Latinx enough for others. In an act of futurism, he reimagines himself as an evol

ved future entity well equipped for the buffeting that comes from existing between that rock and hard place. While reciting poetry about the experience, the artist embodies a protagonist standing between oscillating fans and Mexican, US and Texas Flags. The act serves as an embodiment of the practice of maintaining your voice in the face of distraction, adversity, and counter-winds.
