Poca Madre Arts is pleased to present “Wild Abandon”, an exhibit featuring five Texas-based abstract painters curated by Austin-based artist and curator Michael Anthony García.

As we find ourselves more & more frequently at a loss for words in this world, it is the intangible and inexplicable gestures in life that bring us solace and peace. The artists in this exhibition, Gerardo Arellano (Austin, image to the left), Kel Brown (Austin/Houston), Jonathan Paul Jackson (Houston), Kristy Perez (San Antonio), and Naomi Schlinke (Austin), tackle the ungraspable via abstract painting & create work that is independent from our surrounding reality, speaking to something deeper.

The exhibition is part of the East Austin Studio Tour (Stop #361) showing at the PrintPress compound at 1207 East Cesar Chavez, Austin, TX 78702 and is accompanied by a fully illustrated catalog with an essay by San Antonio based art historian Claudia Zapata.
