Welcome to the Monkey House was an exhibition featuring select work from San Antonio, Austin, Memphis and Canada. Welcome to the Monkey House exhibits twelve artists whose work investigates the uncertainty, fear, paranoia and angst pervading American popular culture. With war, global warming, corporate greed and disillusionment with government leaders in the foreground, the works succeed in offering a glint of hope for a better future. Ranging from detailed drawings, paintings, sculpture, installation and performance, this exhibition scrutinizes the ideological battles of our society.
Artists exhibiting are: Albert Alvarez (San Antonio, TX), Jaime Castillo (Austin, TX), Scott Everingham (Toronto, Canada), Lucy Flores (Austin, TX), Michael Anthony Garcia (Austin, TX), Alejandra Gomez (San Antonio, TX), Alex Harrison (Memphis, TN), Hector Hernandez (Austin, TX), Michelle Love (San Antonio, TX), Enrique Martinez (San Antonio, TX), Gamze Özer (San Antonio, TX) and Justin Schneider (San Antonio, TX).
In Welcome to the Monkey House, I reconfigured my, Aliñado installation previously shown in Guadalajara, Mexico.
