YLA 11: "Juventud Desenfrenada" is a group show at Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, TX in 2006 curated by Alberto McKelligan Hernández

Other artist in the show are: Roberto Bellini Monteiro (Brazil), Catherine Berlanga (Corpus Christi), Kimberly Garza Campbell (San Antonio), Jaime Castillo (Austin), Eric Daniel Chavera (Corpus Christi), Hector Hernandez (Austin), Joe Peña (Corpus Christi), Luz María Sánchez (San Antonio), Angel Quesada (Austin), Cesar Alexander Villareal (Austin) and Grace Zuniga (Corpus Christi).

Statement from Mexic-Arte literature:

"In the sculptural montage presented in this exhibition, García explores the theme of self-examination and societal expectations, producing a work that fits into his overall study of culture and society."

This piece was the first of many I created after a lengthy period of insecurity and introspection. The images represented around the exterior of the mirror are of parts of my physical being of which I have been insecure about at one point or another in my life. Some dating back to early childhood (paging Dr. Freud). Others are more recent.

Through this piece I wanted to explore them, and to bring myself face to face with them. Pardon the pun.
